Strategies for assessing and evaluating Internet and other technology resources

The internet is a world wide web which means anyone could put information on it from a five year old to a hundredth year old. Which is why it is very important to make sure that your source is legitimate and is giving the correct information. There are many strategies one could use to evaluate internet and other technology resources such as, what I like to call traditional strategy which is comparing the internet resource with books, some may say that this would take to long but it should not, once the information is the same and it could be easily identified this would work for older people who are accustom to books and is willing to give technology a try.
Another strategy is looking at multiple sites, if the information is correct information then all of the sites even though written by different sources would have the basically the same information among other things.
However if you are a teacher that want to select, suggest or use a site for your students in the classroom then there are a number of things you should look at or for before using it in the classroom such as first you have to find out what is the purpose of the site. Is it for kids? what kind of message is it sending to students? could it be used in the classroom? etc. If you are teaching a standard one class you have to make sure that the site for standard one level the information must not be too hard or to easy otherwise the child would not be interested in learning. Just like stated above one must make sure that the information is accurate information, the worst thing is giving students wrong or misleading information because it is hard for that child to unlearn that information. you should also take into consideration if the information is organized right, if it has too much information because students have short attention span and if the color, letting and background is appropriate since you don't want the child to get distracted by the unimportant things rather than the important things (information) and the list goes on. Selecting information from the internet may at first seem easy but if you want to get the most appropriate, effective information for yourself or for the classroom you would realize that it is not so easy.
