Students already know what an informational book is.
OBJECTIVES
Using given hotlist and other internet sites, students would be able to:
•Create an informational book about butterflies.
•Use publisher to create a newsletter on facts about butterflies.
DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP
This workshop would include students visiting the sites that are given and plus other sites about butterflies.
Students would engage in an activity which would include completing the stages of an activity at this site http://www.enchantedlearning.com/crafts/butterfly/lifecyclemobile/
Students could work in groups to help each other but must provide individual work. Students already know what an informational book is, so it is just about gathering the information about butterflies. This would include the stages of an butterfly. At the end of the workshop students would present their informational book and newsletter to the class. Students are to be creative and incorporate their personal style into the informational book. The workshop would be done over a period of time.
Bloom’s taxonomy applied
Synthesis would be applied since students would be creating an informational book and newsletter from diverse elements.
Evaluation would also be applied since students have to explain their informational book and newsletter
